CEO to CEO mentoring

A specific mentoring programme for CEOs (including equivalent titles such as Director, Head of or Senior Manager). Designed and delivered in the spirit of mentoring through its opportunity for CEOs to share their lived experience with one another. 

Two CEOs will be matched against specific criteria to enable a rich exchange of experience, knowledge and skills and, as a starting place, identification of a selection of potential topics of interest to explore together.

Designed with the demands of a CEO in mind, the intention is to give CEOs, responsible for working to tackle inequalities in sport and physical activity, the opportunity to share their perspective and approach to leading an organisation with fellow CEOs to build knowledge and share good practice.

Our coaching and mentoring offers are designed to support individuals, teams and groups. They’re fully funded by The National Lottery and available for leaders and board members of Sport England system partner organisations.     • Explore lived experiences with another CEO leading an organisation, to gain professional and personal learning and development.
    • Enjoy “a fair share” so both CEOs can make the most of the opportunity, within the framework of the programme, for development.
    • Uncover the commonalities and differences of the ‘world’ in which they both lead.
    • Have the benefit of an independent, unbiased view, with no agenda, from outside the organisation.
    • Feel safe to share, explore and discuss in a confidential space.
    • Block out time in a busy diary to reflect, lift up and look outwards – in the sector and the wider world, now and future – at trends and events that could impact the work of tackling inequalities in sport and physical activity.

What's involved?

The CEO to CEO mentoring programme involves:

A 20-minute welcome and onboarding call.

A quick highlight of key mentoring skills to ensure productive discussions (20-minute podcast).

Up to five, one-hour sessions self-structured around agreed topics based on a “fair share” approach.

Participating CEOs will agree areas of exploration together. Each pair of CEOs will also decide the frequency and number of mentoring sessions depending on their availability of time. They can complete up to five sessions, with a minimum expectation of three.
